What are the applications of vacuum PVD coating machine coating in medical devices?
What are the applications of vacuum PVD coating machine coating in medical equipment, let's take a small series to introduce in detail, at present, medical equipment manufacturers are increasingly using PVD coating to distinguish the appearance of their equipment from similar products and Enhance the performance of their devices because the hard, inert coating is biocompatible and will not react with bone, tissue or body fluids. Examples of PVD-coated medical devices include disruptors, drills and needles, and "wear" parts used in various device components as well as dental applications. PVD coatings provide better edge retention, so coated surgical instruments remain clear. For other equipment, they reduce wear between mating stainless steel components and help prevent oxidation and corrosion. Medical devices are typically four types of PVD coatings. The most commonly used are titanium nitride (TiN), which has a thickness ranging from 0.0001 to 0.0002 inches, a Vickers hardness ranging from 2,400 to 2,600 Hv, and a gold color. The second most common medical coating is aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN), commonly referred to as black nitride or black titanium coating. It has a thickness range of 0.0001 to 0.0002 inches, a hardness range of 4,000 to 4,200 Hv, and a carbon black finish. Two other medical coatings are Chromium Nitride (CrN) and Alpha. CrN is available in thicknesses ranging from 0.0001 to 0.0005 inches, hardness ranging from 2,200 to 2,400Hv, and silver finish. Alpha is a multi-layer coating with zirconium nitride (ZrN) on the top layer and produces a silver-gold color. It is available in thicknesses ranging from 0.0001 to 0.0002 inches and has the highest hardness ranging from 4,400 to 4,600 Hv. This coating can last two to four times longer than TiN due to its higher hardness, lubricity and wear resistance.
In addition to medical devices and cutting tools, PVD coater coatings are often used to improve the performance and service life of stamping tools, forming tools, and injection-molded wear parts
